Thank you for taking the time to browse IELA’s website. Hopefully you find this informative and that it answers any questions you may have. My name is Daniel Ginting and I feel truly privileged to lead such a wonderful association, IELA: Indonesian English Lecturers Association.
IELA has a unique history. Starting from a group of educators from various universities in a group of social media, both inspiration and aspirations that group members had to share, help each other, and collaborate in various academic activities became very strong. In fact, the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020 hit almost all educators at the same time.
The IELA founders believed that by simply establishing an association, brilliant collaborative ideas became more structured, meaningful and purposeful. IELA, formed on January 1, 2021, was established solely not to compete with other associations. Instead, this organization turns into a proactive organization in reaching educators teaching English in various parts of the archipelago. As such, they will have the opportunities to actualize themselves and make them grow intellectually and academically, especially in attaining the demands of Three Pillars of Indonesia’s Higher Education.
IELA realizes that educators have a very important role in advancing Indonesian education. Thus, improving the quality of teaching English in the 21st century though numerous collaboration work, academic sharing forums among teachers are extremely needed to achieve the aforementioned goals.
Last, hopefully IELA will be useful for everyone. Thank you
